■Abstract:
With the advent of the era of commercial space travel, an era has begun where non-professional civilians can readily journey into space. Driven by both national programs and private enterprises, lunar travel and Martian colonization are becoming tangible possibilities. Since 2017, ASTRAX has spearheaded Private Space Pioneering Education, focusing on cultivating “Universal Personnel” capable of thriving in diverse space-based roles. In contemporary Japanese education, there is an increasing demand for “experiential learning” that bridges natural environments with technology, moving beyond traditional classrooms. This study, conducted as a joint venture with “Challenge World”-a provider of experiential education programs in Japan-aims to verify the feasibility and operational process of camp-based educational events themed around space. The goal is to evaluate the implementation of a hybrid learning model that complements physical experiences with digital technologies (online lectures, VR, and simulators). This research analyzes the suitability of the content and the pedagogical environment through qualitative and quantitative verification of the program’s delivery. The specific program implementation includes the design, construction, and launching of original model rockets, alongside online lectures on global space frontier trends. Furthermore, utilizing advanced educational tools developed by ASTRAX, workshops focusing on “space life skills” are conducted. By integrating practical exercises such as space travel planning and lunar city management simulations, the study aims to build a “real-world” space frontier education model. This model allows children to experience diverse occupations within the private space industry, moving away from a strictly STEM-centric approach. This research verifies how utilizing realistic training programs and platforms can be operationally integrated to encourage student autonomy and creativity. While the final pedagogical impact remains a subject for long-term study as the infrastructure continues to develop, this study elucidates the process of alternating between virtual and real-world experiences. Consequently, this study presents a methodology for constructing high-value-added educational content that transcends simple recreation. The results demonstrate the potential of new entrepreneurship education through collaborations between private educational institutions and space ventures. This paper presents details of the educational themes and content, specific implementation details, and the future roadmap of this innovative educational model.
